Sons Of Anarchy 7.6 Review - 5 Talking Points From "Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em"
4. A Message To Marks
For the past few episodes Jax has been quietly moving the chess pieces into place for his mission to rid himself of August Marks. But Smoke Em If You Got Em marked the first time an overt message was sent to the man who is now in charge of the gun trade. Tyler has made his allegiance known by continuing to covertly supply Jax with information on Augusts movements, and this time he brought Jax news that Marks was planning to use the East Dub crew to take out the Grim B*stards. When SAMCRO learns the whereabouts of East Dubs new point man, they team up with the B*stards and the Mayans to ambush the entire crew, laying waste to them in a backstreet massacre. This benefits the MC in three ways: 1) Theyre able to eliminate a threat who was looking to take out their most solid allies; 2) They use the bodies to finally ease the tension with the Aryans so theyll be more agreeable in their business dealings; and 3) The bodies of the East Dub members are dumped at one of Marks construction sites to send a direct message that theyre aware of his plans and wont sit idly by while he plots to destroy the Sons. Its a ballsy move that will sure to bring some retaliation their way, but it was an effective first play on the ever-changing chessboard between Jax and August. We cant wait to see how Marks will respond.
