For the majority of the show's seven seasons, Henry Lin didn't have much of an impact on the titular club. Things between the Chinese and the MC were always amicable, until Jax tried to get the latter out of guns, and Galen gunned one the Chinese crew, and shot Lin himself.

This pulled the two factions into a war that only got deeper when Gemma blamed Tara's death on Chris Dun. Jax started systematically tearing Lin's operation to pieces, by stealing his guns, his drugs, and killing his men.

This forced Lin into action, promising to turn Charming into a killing field unless he got some answers. These ultimately came from Charlie Barosky, who sold the Sons of Anarchy out, and sent Lin to war with a rage like few had previously shown in the show.

He killed West, he had Scoops bombed, and he slaughtered everyone at Diosa. He attacked SAMCRO without hesitation or pity, and even threatened Nero's son. As far as Lin was concerned, the Sons' attacks were completely unprovoked, but this brought him into a deadly war that he had no choice but to fight with as much force as he could.
