Sons Of Anarchy: Every Season Ranked Worst To Best
3. Season Five
Season five is a seriously smart and dark season, and offers up some of the show's most gut-wrenching moments. This was the season that brought fans the unforgivable but badass death of Opie, a character who gave everything to the club that ended up ruining his life and betrayed him at every turn. It also saw the death of Tig's daughter, Dawn, who is killed by new villain Damon Pope by fire right in front of him.
The acting is at an all-time high with this season, particularly in the aforementioned Tig scene and the tale of a broken Gemma, and the writing allows the season to move from plot to plot without feeling too over-stuffed or long. It also introduced audiences to the lovable Nero, who would go on to become on of the show's most solid characters.
There are moments, yes, when the whole thing feels a bit predictable, especially when it comes to Pope's one-note and unfortunately unoriginal villain, but thanks to solid twists and Jax's extremely dark and irreversible arc (y'know, where he shoots-up his ex-wife so she doesn't get custody of their kid), season five is definitely one of the show's strongest chapters.
