Sons Of Anarchy: Ranking Every Main Character Worst To Best
13. Piney Winston
Piney rarely ever got the respect he deserved in Sons of Anarchy. He was one of the First 9, patched Clay into the club way back when, and was John Teller’s most trusted friend. Yet, all these years later, he is simply thought of as a crazy old man.
In truth, Piney spent more time away from the club up in his cabin getting wasted than he did actually functioning as a member, but he still had a huge impact on the series. When Donna was killed, he almost got himself killed by trying to exact revenge on Laroy, before taking a shot at Clay.
He eventually agreed to let Jax settle these differences, but once he found out about what JT suspected of Clay from the letters Maureen Ashby gave to Jax, he had no trouble holding them over Clay’s head. He hated his President for the murder of Donna, the murder of JT, and getting the club into drugs, and he tried to use them all to his advantage.
Piney had a pretty good grasp on what was right and wrong, despite being an outlaw, which he showed when he clocked Opie for cheating on Lyla and almost getting people hurt because of it, and instead of just telling the club about the letters, he tried to use them to get the Sons out of a dangerous deal. Maybe if he had just exposed Clay as the murderer he was, he would have lived a lot longer.
