Sons Of Anarchy Series Finale - 10 Talking Points From Papa's Goods

1. Jax Succeeds Where His Father Failed

When audiences first met Jax Teller he was a young man with an ideology and a desire to heed his father's warnings and lead his club out of the darkness. As the years progressed, rather than lead them out of that darkness he sank his brothers even further into it. But the Jax Teller of season seven, and specifically Papa's Goods, is a man who finally realised his role in life, and his last act was to ensure that he succeeded where his father failed, and that was by promising himself and his father that his two sons "will never know this life of chaos". What's perhaps even more gut-wrenching is that, despite knowing all this, there's one final shot of Abel playing with his SoA ring given to him by his grandmother, and viewers are instantly reminded of Gemma's declaration that Abel "knows his tribe" and we're left to worry that Jax's sacrifice will be in vain. It's doubtful, but it's just enough of a possibility to add even more emotional weight to his decision. Brilliant writing. The swan song has been played and millions of people's favourite television show has come to an end. It's not often that a series gets a chance to go out on top when it's at its apex, but Kurt Sutter and crew can take solace in the fact that they did exactly that. Thanks for an amazing seven years.
