Sons Of Anarchy Series Finale - 10 Talking Points From Papa's Goods

10. Getting The Affairs In Order

Papa€™s Goods opened with a montage set to Bruce Springsteen€™s €œAdam Raised a Cain€ featuring Jackson Teller taking a stroll down his blood-splattered memory lane as he began putting his affairs in order for what was to come. The discarding of the trademark white sneakers was heavy, because throughout the entirety of seven seasons Jax has always been known for having pristine footwear. These were soiled with the blood of his mother and when they went in the trash it signified that an important part of him was lost. He looked back at old photos of his parents in happier times and thumbed through his father€™s manuscript, revisiting J.T.€™s thoughts in the days before he lost his life on that highway. Despite the fact that these were good memories for him, he tossed them in a fire and erased them from history. At the time this didn€™t connect but it would make sense later when the audience realised that Jax was eradicating all evidence of him and his father€™s time in SAMCRO so as to avoid any chance of his own sons getting their hands on the writings and following in his footsteps. He helped ensure this by gathering together the pertinent paperwork on his sons and his property so that he could turn them over to Nero, essentially granting Wendy custody of Thomas and Abel. Jax also visit the graves of his wife and his best friend, leaving behind his wedding ring on Tara's headstone and his Sons rings on Opie's; his way of saying "I'm sorry".
