Sons of Anarchy Writer Lands New Job Co-Running Starz's 'Marco Polo'

Starz has been on the hunt to find the perfect writer for their new show Marco Polo, and they finally found him in Sons of Anarchy writer Dave Erickson.

Sons of Anarchy Dave Erickson Starz has been on the hunt to find the perfect writer for their new show Marco Polo, and they finally found him in Sons of Anarchy writer Dave Erickson. But Erickson will do more than just write for the new series about the famed Italian explorer, he will be a showrunner alongside creator John Fusco (The Forbidden Kingdom). The new show will be part action/adventure and part martial arts epic. If you are wondering what that means, your guess is a good as mine. But, Ericson and Fusco seem terribly excited to work with one another, so that's got to count for something. Ericson told THR that "€œJohn Fusco has created an epic character and adventure drama unlike anything I€™ve read or seen on television." Fusco struck back with a simpler, but equally ego-stroking "€œDave Erickson is an exceptional writer and showrunner." Hurray! The Marco Polo writing room will be full of praise. But I'm just kidding around. The show sounds like it could be kind of cool. It will have Kublai Khan and majestic settings, and it will be on Starz so there will be a least a little bit of room for proper character and plot devlopment. Besides, Erickson has lent his hand to some fabulous episodes of Sons of Anarchy like "Oiled" and "NS," the glorious Season 3 finale he wrote with series creator Kurt Sutter. So maybe this new Marco Polo thing can be kind of good. I don't know, I submit to you. What do you guys think? Hit or miss?
