South Park: 10 Best Characters Who Appeared After Season One
5. Sergeant Harrison Yates
South Park's first attempts to satirise the police force were perfectly fine, but nothing too inspired.
Officer Barbrady was a bumbling foolish police officer in a small town, and while he grew to be loveable, he wasn't memorable at all. Thankfully, this hard-working, red-headed Sergeant arrived to lead by example.
Yates came along to teach the boys a lesson about music piracy in "Christian Hard Rock" from season 7 and was there to stay afterwards. Throughout his time in the show, he's been a part of many storylines and has grown to be the common enforcer of the law in South Park, no matter how misguided.
Part of what makes this character so damn funny is how serious he is. Despite some of the ridiculous things he does - such as prostituting himself undercover or sacrificing people to Lovecraftian gods - he's constantly taking it incredibly severely and going full in.
This makes him a hilarious jab at the police force and a loving parody of the workaholic cop archetype.
