South Park: 5 Most Controversial Episodes Ever

1. 200/201

Spspspsp And last but in no way least, the most controversial episode of South Park, the episode that rattled the most feathers, the episode that really got the creators in Tom Cruise€™s bad books. It is, of course, the 200th episode two-part special, 200 and 201. After Stan offends Tom Cruise by calling him a fudge-packer (even though he is literally packing fudge at the time), 200 pissed-off celebrities decide to file a lawsuit against the town. Stan tries to apologise, but Tom Cruise says the only way they will stop the lawsuit is if the town can get him and the other celebrities Muhammad, as they want his €˜goo€™ which they believe makes him immune to mockery. So in part one the creators managed again to mock Tom Cruise, and they proposed to show a depiction of Muhammad in part two. Revolution Muslim got involved following 200, warning the creators that they would end up like Theo Van Gough if they aired the episode, a filmmaker who was murdered following a short film he released which showed violence against women in some Islamic societies. Security at South Park studios and Comedy Central HQ was increased. But Matt and Trey were not about to back down, nor were the South Park fans who hacked the Revolution Muslim website and organised a national €˜Draw Muhammad day€™. The creators sent the episode 201 to comedy central for airing, Muhammad and all. But in the end it was too much for Comedy Central, and they decided to censor the image of Muhammad regardless of what Matt and Trey said, as well as bleep out Kyle€™s entire final speech. And what was that speech about? Well according to Matt and Trey it was about not giving in to intimidation and fear. Oh, the irony...
