South Park Parodies Game Of Thrones: The 15 Best Bits

15. Subverting Their Moral With Advertising

I'll pull a Tarantino and start right at the end. South Park is known, among other things, for giving its viewers a moral at the end of the story. It's usually something one of the boys has learned along the way about sharing, being kinder or something along those lines. Some have called this approach a bit preachy and it has even been parodied by the likes of Drawn Together but say what you will, it is integral to the format of the show. Matt and Trey are more than willing to subvert and lampoon their own style though and this is evident at the end of their Black Friday trilogy. Cartman's realisation that games consoles aren't everything is undercut by a large, flashy advert for their highly anticipated game South Park: The Stick of Truth. Many people had seen in advance that the outfits the characters were wearing were identical to those from the game, but the sheer audacity of sticking an advert for it at the end of their trilogy was brilliant. It was a fitting final joke in an arc about consumerism and Butters' addition to it was priceless.
