Squid Game: 8 Unanswered Questions We Need To Know

Those burning Squid Game questions you desperately need answers to!

Squid Game
Netflix

Just when you thought your days of sitting in front of a television for hours on end were over in the wake of the world slowly opening itself back up again, Netflix have only gone and dropped perhaps the most talked-about series of the last 12-months into the mix. And unless you're one of those few souls who possess a vibrant social life and the will to leave your front room, you've likely already binged - or at the very least started - Hwang Dong-hyuk's glorious tale of all-or-nothing chaos.

If you've not found yourself crossing the Red Light, Green Light finish line or successfully carving out a sugar star, then it'd likely be wise to leave this tab open for a few hours before returning for the goods. But if you have, then you're likely as shocked, heart-broken, chilled, and driven to find out everything there is to know about what happens next to the likes of Seong Gi-hun and the many other surviving faces who made up the show's stellar ensemble as your writer is.

So, with that in mind, let's take a deep dive into the various loose ends and queries many a Squid Game devotee has been left pondering in the wake of that jaw-dropping conclusion.

8. How Are Squid Game Staff Recruited?

On top of being at the forefront of just about every fan's mind when it comes to deciding on their 2021 Halloween costume, the staff that find themselves at the centre of the series' titular game have become a rather large talking point coming out of the show for another reason.

That being, how in the hell did they find themselves in the thick of all this chaos to begin with?

Well, one major theory doing the online rounds centres around the game of ddakji we see being used to recruit contestants to the Squid Game. After Seong Gi-hun opts to accept the offer from The Salesman to play for 100,000 Korean won per round, the eventual-winner is given a choice to play as either blue or red. As we now know, Gi-hun went for the former colour, but many fans are theorising that had he gone for the latter then he may have been thrown onto the "staff" shortlist instead.

This would likely explain why the staff are seen as expendable as the various players throughout the show, but there's still been no solid confirmation on exactly how these instantly iconic recruits were brought into the underground game.
