Star Trek: 10 Best Ferengi Episodes

6. The Next Generation: Ménage à Troi

If there's one sin the Ferengi are motivated by almost as much as greed, it's lust. Ferengi males love women, unfortunately not enough to treat them like actual people. Until Ishka's changes came along, Ferengi women were not allowed to leave the home, wear clothes, talk to strangers or earn profit. They were tied to the house, subservient to the men around them and quite literally chewing their food for them.

It's no wonder Lwaxana Troi wasn't interested in Daimon Tog.

The vivacious mother of Counsellor Deanna Troi, Lwaxana was a recurring presence on the Enterprise. This was in not small part due to the fact that she very openly had a massive crush on Picard. The feelings were not reciprocated, to say the least. But at a trade conference on Betazed, Tog made his feelings for Lwaxana clear. Again, there was no reciprocation.

Not one to take no for an answer, Tog kidnapped Lwaxana, Deanna and Will Riker. The Enterprise tracked his ship down and rescued their missing crew and friends. To get Tog to believe that he was so passionate about Lwaxana that he might destroy the Krayton, Picard launches into classic pieces by William Shakespeare and Alfred, Lord Tennyson. It worked so well that it convinced Lwaxana of his feelings, too.

This was a fun episode that led to one of Picard's most comical on screen moments. The Ferengi always brought out an interesting side in Picard. Combining Ferengi with Lwaxana Troi just made his life hilariously difficult.
