Star Trek: 10 Best Ferengi Episodes
5. Deep Space Nine: The House Of Quark
Quark's eye for the ladies drifts across all species. This isn't abnormal as a Ferengi man's lust isn't limited to only Ferengi women. Over the course of the series, Quark showed more than a little interest in Cardassians, Bajorans, Trills and Humans. But his strangest relationship was his one with a Klingon.
The last customer in his bar on a dead night was a Klingon man, who was so drunk when he attacked Quark that he fell on his own blade and died. This led to Quark being drawn into a feud between two Klingon houses. One was trying to take over the other. To save the one house, he ended up marrying it's matriarch Grilka and unravelled the plot. Though they divorced at the end of the episode, she returned to DS9 later on to rekindle their relationship.
Few species in Star Trek are more different than the Ferengi and the Klingons. What made this episode so special was that it bridged the gap between them so perfectly. It had a healthy mix of funny and poignant moments that made it stand out.
Plus, it was the first Deep Space Nine appearance of Gowron, the leader of the Klingon High Council who factored heavily into several episodes of The Next Generation. As Deep Space Nine goes on and Klingons became an increasingly key factor presence in the series, so did Gowron.
