Star Trek: 10 Character Fates Worse Than Death

4. Being Flung Across The Galaxy

When you stop for a moment and think about it, the entire premise of Star Trek: Voyager is a fate worse than death. The ship was flung across the galaxy to the Delta Quadrant, where Captain Janeway and her crew had to fight to get home, which was over 70,000 light-years away.

This effectively turned the Starship into a Generation Ship, as it would take several generations for the ship to return home, and that was only if everything went according to plan. Of course, it didn't, and the crew had to battle their way across completely unknown territory to return to the Alpha Quadrant.

What's more, they had to cross Borg space, and this was something the entire crew knew from day one. Of course, nobody brought it up until the fourth season, which only came after the aptly-named "Year of Hell," which featured an alternate timeline consisting of 12 months of nonstop attacks.

The Voyager had to contend with new enemies, few allies, and limited resources. This went on for years before they could get a message home, letting Starfleet know the ship wasn't lost forever. Voyager covered seven years of unknown dangers and threats most crewmen would have preferred to sit out in the ship's morgue.
