Star Trek: 10 Character Fates Worse Than Death

5. Being Split Into A Good Half And An Evil Half

In the Original Series episode "The Enemy Within," Captain Kirk finds himself the victim of yet another transporter malfunction. He's not alone, as an unnamed alien also goes through the same nightmarish hell, only it comes in the form of a little doggy with horns, antennae, and a long tail.

That doesn't have anything to do with Kirk, but it's worth mentioning due to how incredibly cheesy it was. For Kirk, the event split him into two separate people, which represented his good side and his bad side. The good side acted like Kirk, but he found he couldn't make any decisions about anything.

Bad Kirk was significantly different from his normal self, and this was apparent to Yeoman Rand, who had to fend off his advances, which came after he got himself drunk from some booze he scored off Dr. McCoy. During this time, the crew is incredibly confused, and for good reason.

Kirk... the "good" Kirk attempted to explain what was happening, but the old excuse of "it wasn't me but a guy who looks just like me" didn't really cut it with the crew. Eventually, both Kirks were fused back into a single person, finally ending the nightmare of having more than one Captain James T. Kirk.
