Star Trek: 10 Character Reveals That Didn't Have To Go THAT Hard

5. The Sad Second Fate Of Tasha Yar

Yesterday's Enterprise thankfully gave Tasha the closure that she deserved. Though the character was still fated to die, the timey-wimey of it all meant that her death, finally, had some purpose.

Returning to the past aboard the Enterprise-C, she helped the ship survive the battle with the Romulans long enough to make a difference. Her story could have ended there, though someone realised that she looked great in a pair of pointed ears.

The revelation of Sela was a game-changer for Star Trek, but it came at a cost. Tasha, rather than dying aboard the Enterprise-C, was brought back to Romulus as a prisoner. She was taken by a Romulan officer and kept as his concubine, leading to the birth of Sela. Though Tasha tried to escape - with her daughter - she was recaptured and executed.

It was a sad ending to the character, though at least via temporal changes, she was able to play a fundamental role in shaping the future of the quadrants.
