Star Trek: 10 Character Reveals That Didn't Have To Go THAT Hard
3. Odo's Got Blood On His Hands
Deep Space Nine, having already appeared on this list, offered audiences reveal after reveal when it came to their characters. Odo was one of the most unique creations in Star Trek history - he was the good guy, but he didn't always play good cop.
During his time working for the Cardassians, he did he best to upload law and order on Terok Nor, but like so many sad stories of good people doing awful things, he was responsible for the deaths of innocent civilians.
Things Past is a harrowing episode, held together with a simple framing device, devastating the audiences' views of Odo. This follows from the earlier Necessary Evil, where he held Kira to task over the deaths that she played a part in during the Occupation.
René Auberjonois plays the part to perfection, allowing the guilt that Odo feels to radiate outward. It was a gamble to reveal something so dark so late in the game for DS9, but serves as one of the biggest, darkest, most successful lore dumps in the franchise.
