Star Trek: 10 Characters With The Most Appearances

6. 197 - Janeway

Worf Picard Episodes Star Trek
CBS

This is one of those where fans will probably shout "Of course!"

Captain of the Federation Starship USS Voyager, the revered Captain Kathryn Janeway led her crew through the Delta Quadrant for seven years seeking out new nebulas of coffee, diverting off to check out the least interesting planets in the galaxy, narking off the Borg regularly, and somehow never promoting Harry Kim.

But we can in some ways forgive her because Janeway did bring her ship and crew home albeit just before the credits for Endgame rolled.

Don't forget either that she was quickly promoted and turned up to brief Picard in Nemesis in what was originally slated as a cameo for Jeri Ryan's Seven of Nine. Again, as with Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew has benefitted from the resurgence of Trek on telly.

Appearing as both a holographic recreation of Captain Janeway and as the flesh and blood Admiral Janeway, Mulgrew has literally breathed new life into the character in two variations across season one of Prodigy. Now, all that is debateable here is whether or not Holographic Janeway should be counted as a real version of the captain but either way she has been a stalwart of this "kids" show.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
