The death rituals of individual species can tell you a lot about them. Klingons performed a ritual after death that warned the afterlife that a Klingon warrior was coming. Surprisingly, Vulcans had a simple, matter of fact memorial that was usually quite brief.

Then, there were the Ferengi.

After death, the remains of a Ferengi would often be chopped up and packaged for sale to anyone who wanted a piece of memorabilia. The process of processing the remains was called vacuum-desiccation, and it created 52 individual disks holding portions of the remains. Each one had the Ferengi Seal of Dismemberment on it to prove its authenticity.

While the whole procedure seems quite morbid, it also fit in perfectly with Ferengi culture. It was one last opportunity to make a little profit before moving on to the Divine Treasury.
