Probably a massive cheat on this list - but what would watching the reunion of the TNG cast for their final journey be without a revisit to their previous final journey?

Love it or hate it, the 2002 movie wasn't originally planned as the end of the road, so fans have been waiting two decades for a more satisfying pay-off. Season three, therefore, has a lot to deliver, yet Nemesis is a key component of understanding where the franchise has been and the mess that it ended up in.

The final Berman-era movie is the last time the TNG crew all appeared onscreen together. The story played along slightly similar lines to The Undiscovered Country, though rather than the Klingons, it was the Romulan Empire taking centre stage. This would be a different take on the secretive society, while also introducing the still rarely seen Remans and laying out ground work that would take almost two decades to realise.

Nemesis and the destruction of the Romulan star in JJ Abrams 2009's reboot are cornerstones of the Picard series itself, not just its third season.
