Star Trek: 10 Hated Episodes You Grew To Love

1. Sub Rosa

Sub Rosa is perhaps the easiest example of nothing going right, leading to everything being great. Arriving in The Next Generation's final season, this was something of a last hurrah for Crusher purists, as well as those who wanted to see the sexier sides of a Yankee Candle.

Nana's erotic journals. Ronin banging all of the Howard women. Dunnay light that caaaandle!

Sub Rosa had it all, tied in with one heck of a performance from Gates McFadden. She gave it her all, which really was the only option. It was not an episode for doing anything by half, as the concept required a deep dive into gothic horror.

Some parts have aged like milk, but Sub Rosa has achieved a fever-dream status, delighting fans on rewatch, with reviewers alike. It's camp as all hell, never quite taking itself seriously, while also giving the impression it's the highest stakes in the galaxy. It promised a journey - and a journey is what we got.
