Star Trek: 10 More Secrets Of The USS Enterprise D You Need To Know
7. Idiots Broke Into The Ship
No we're not talking about that time some Ferengi mercenaries hijacked the Enterprise and could only be foiled by de-aged Captain Picard, Ensign Ro, Keiko O'Brien, and Guinan.
According to Daily Dot, "idiots" broke into the Star Trek: The Next Generation set (and filmed themselves doing it) in March 1988 – during TNG's first season.
Videos of the break-in appeared on YouTube in 2007 (now removed) in a series titled "Stage 9 Interlopers". In the videos, two men dressed in homemade Starfleet uniforms toured the dark, empty sets of the Enterprise-D, activating some of the backlit consoles, pretending to beam out on the transporter pad, and attempting to climb into one of the sickbay biobeds. These two men could also be heard talking about stealing props before (according to the video's text description) being caught and chased away by Paramount Studios security.
The story was later retold by regular extra Guy Vardaman who revealed that when the men tried to climb into the biobed, they broke "clam shell" cover, disrupting filming the next day.
Hope those guys didn't step in any of the cat poop too.
