Star Trek: 10 Reasons Prodigy Is The Best Series Of The Kurtzman Era

6. Stunning Vistas

Praise across social media has focused on just how stunning each and every scene of Prodigy has looked from the beginning.

For example, the Murder Planet from episodes three and four was a visual assault with flora and fauna crammed into every millimeter of the screen. Even when the Protostar landed, the artistry is well above anything that even Discovery might have manged. Check out the movement of the vines as they entrap the starship or the backgrounds to the prison asteroid in episode one - or even as the Diviner's ship takes off.

Every cell brims with vision and excitement. Prodigy has grabbed at the exploration and need for strange new worlds right away allowing the visual artists led by Craig Hibon the chance to create a whole new piece of the Star Trek universe.

Prodigy remains visually different from the early Animated Series and the more recent Lower Decks and was designed with more cinematic feel in mind which each episode has masterfully achieved. Even when contained to the decks of the Protostar the visuals combine not only elements from the Prime Universe but certainly give more than a casual hat tip to the smooth cleanliness of the Kelvin Timeline too.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
