Star Trek: 10 Species That Can Survive The Vacuum Of Space
9. Rytonians
In many cases, space faring lifeforms are so bafflingly alien to humans that they don't appear as lifeforms at all. Such is the case of the Ryton Nebula, the the aliens non-canonically referred to as 'Rytonians'.
Following the sudden and unexplained appearance of Vadic in Picard's Season 3 debut, the crew of the USS Titan-A are forced to hide in a nebula within the Ryton system to hide from the cataclysmic firepower of Vadic's ship Shrike.
With the ship damaged, the crew find themselves cascading into a gravitational sinkhole at the centre of the nebula, gradually being torn apart by electrical waves. As the waves increase in frequency, and begin displaying biological properties, Dr Crusher realises they are trapped in some kind of galactic womb, preparing for a birthing event. With this new information, the Titan-A is able to utilise the final wave and escape the nebula, witnessing a swarm of newly born lifeforms as they do.
