Star Trek: 10 Strangest Space Anomalies You May Have Forgotten

4. The Nexus

The Nexus is one of the strangest anomalies we've ever seen in Trek. We know so little about where it came from or how it works.

The anomaly was known to pass through the galaxy every 39.1 years, and whenever it did, those who it passed by were transported into a realm of pure happiness that can only be described as heaven-like. Inside the Nexus, all of your deepest desires become reality.

The anomaly's only appearance was in Star Trek: Generations. At the beginning of the movie, Kirk was lost in the Nexus while trying to save the Enterprise-B and a group of El-Aurian refugees, including Guinan and Tolian Soran, from being killed by it. Decades later, Soran, obsessed with returning to the ecstasy of the Nexus, tried to redirect its path onto a planet's surface by destroying a star, killing the native population. When he succeeded and Captain Picard was sent to the Nexus, he found the soul of Captain Kirk living out his dream of a quiet life with his family. Picard used the Nexus to reappear moments before Soran succeeded, along with a newly resurrected Captain Kirk, and stopped him before the star could be destroyed.

The Nexus is set to return to Federation space in 2410 (about 10 years after the events of Star Trek: Picard season two), so we may get to learn more about this mysterious anomaly in the future.
