Star Trek: 10 Things Picard Has Wisely Avoided (Or Forgotten)

7. Klingons

A huge part of the setup for Discovery, Klingons have also dropped by in Lower Decks.

Picard has focused on both the Borg and the Romulans across its 20 episodes with the only significant appearance of the Klingons being General Martok's skull adorning a plinth in Picard's alternative timeline office.

Now that skull does tell us a lot in that the appearance of Klingons does seem to be in keeping with those we have seen across the Star Trek shows and movies from 1979-2005 given the bone structure. But, fans still have to witness a real live Klingon in the series nor is there an insight into the current state of the Empire.

Season three's inclusion of Worf may well help answer the question as to what has happened across the border as well as maybe ticking the box as to where the Enterprise has been. Fans of the recent Picard novels will know that SPOILER ALERT Worf was promoted to captain and took over from Jean-Luc in the big chair of the Enterprise-E (The Last Best Hope)

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
