Star Trek: 10 Things Picard Has Wisely Avoided (Or Forgotten)

6. The Sisko

Remember when season two trailers came out and there was a big thing about the Bajoran tablet on Picards desk? Was it to do with the time travel element of the story? Would this mean that another Starfleet captain might make an appearance?

As with a few strands and nods in the second batch of Picard, it amassed to approximately nothing with the artifact, last properly seen in DS9's The Reckoning, being little more than fancy set dressing. The proposed season eight episode from the excellent What We Left Behind documentary does have the return of Captain Sisko at its conclusion but Picard has chosen another path.

With an occasional mention of Voyager and Janeway thrown in mainly by Seven, DS9 has remained conspicuously absent from both Picard and later Discovery when it has come to acknowledge the show's events. Yes, avoiding the mention of Ben Sisko leaves the door open but through including such a blatant prop in the promo images and also in the first episode of the season, the writers left themselves open for a lot of fire from viewers who were hoping to see something linking in the space station show.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
