Star Trek: 10 Things Picard Has Wisely Avoided (Or Forgotten)

3. Marie Picard

For decades fans have known that the Picard estate in La Barre, France has been passed from generation to generation as was even more firmly cemented in season two.

However the fate of its previous resident, the widow of Robert Picard has never been alluded to. Seen in TNG's fourth season Family, Marie Picard was a key member of the household. Her name didn't somehow warrant a mention when husband and son were tragically killed in a fire at the estate during the events of Generations.

Flip forward 28 years and Marie is nowhere to be seen and almost appears excised from time. The audience is left with no idea what happened to her following the events of Generations. There has been suggestion that the estate buildings do suggest signs of demolition and work when viewed between the 21st and 24th Century. In turn this does corroborate the notion that part of the chateau was destroyed during that time period.

As for Marie, viewers are left scratching their heads as to where she went. This does mean that there's potential for her to pop up in season three in name or on screen but unless essential to the show that seems doubtful.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
