Star Trek: 10 Things You Didn’t Know About Thy'lek Shran
1. He's Left Handed
Throughout the four-year run of Enterprise, Shran proves himself to be a valuable ally, dangerous opponent, fiercely intelligent tactician, and capable warrior anytime the Enterprise finds themselves either facing him down or by his side. How much more impressive it is, then, to find out that Shran is achieving all of these feats with his non-dominant hand.
Indeed, although Shran's first appearance on P'Jem has him dual-wielding Andorian rifles, and he proceeds to spend the rest of the episode definitely favouring his right hand whilst holding his rifle, a communicator, or his fist whilst beating Archer for information, the website StarTrek.com definitively states that he is left-handed.
Is this a continuity oversight on the part of the official website for the Star Trek franchise? Perhaps something Shran has had to overcome for the right-hand-focused Ushaan combat ritual? Does Andorian dexterity work differently than we humans?
Perhaps a tie-in novel will answer these questions one day. All I know is that you asked for ten facts, and here's the tenth one.
