Star Trek: 10 Things You Didn't Know About Q

4. John De Lancie Has Issues With Playing Q Again

With Picard gracing our screens this year and filling our hearts with joy, many no doubt hoped Jean-Luc would reunite with Q at some point in the series, if only to give us a healthy dose of nostalgia.

But Q's actor - John De Lancie - has expressed concerns with reprising his role as the universe's most unpredictable force. While De Lancie stated he was "very interested", he also mentioned a crucial flaw in a repeat performance: that he "doesn't know that it would make sense to have a ageing Q".

While this is tragic news, it's also worth crediting John for the clear care he has for ensuring a later appearance of Q would still have all the magic of the first. This said, Lancie's uncertainty wouldn't totally prevent him from appearing on the screen again, as he mentions that using just his voice would probably work. Otherwise, a popular idea among fans is that Q is eccentric enough that he probably would age his appearance just for kicks - or just to wind up Picard one extra time.

I like my comics like I like my coffee - in huge, unquestionably unhealthy doses.
