Star Trek: 20 Essential Gifts For Trekkies

16. Knitted Vulcan Hat

Star Trek Spock Vulcan Hat You can't beat a home-made gift can you? Well, you kinda can usually. But what if it was made of a substance that could keep you warm. Logically it would be wool. Well, it is! I love these things. I mean, I'd never have the guts to wear one out in public (despite that it would improve my receding hairline) but I think they're brilliant. In fact I wouldn't be surprised in there was also a Princess Leia one out there for all those Star Wars fans too. The Vulcan hat pattern is available in SFX's special edition of the A-Z of Star Trek, while the materials are available in all good craft stores. The hats are also available on Etsy already knitted for a variety of prices. Of course this isn't the limit to the volume of knitted Star Trek products out there, there are certainly a great deal of them available on Etsy pre-made and Star Trek related knitting patterns have been around since the 1970s.

15. A Cuddly Enterprise!

Star Trek Plush Enterprise Everyone loves a cuddly toy. OK, perhaps it's just me amongst the adult male population. Or at least I'm the only one admitting it. Plus, it's not like it's a cuddly monkey, and I don't think they ever released a cuddly Porthos from Enterprise. But there are limited items you could make into a cuddly toy in the Star Trek universe once you get past the rather traditional Tribble. Perhaps one of those Vulcan cats, or the Klingon Targs - but I don't really see them selling a great deal. So making the Enterprise itself into a cuddly toy itself is genius. This would normally be out of the price range, but currently Think Geek has them on special for $12.49 at half price. Sure you'll have to pay postage from the US and potentially import tax which will easily recoup what you've saved. But the nacelles even light up! For those that don't want to take the challenge of sneaking it past our fine British Customs Services can buy it from Forbidden Planet for £17.99, although they also have a slightly smaller version for £15.99.

I'm a pop culture addict. Television, cinema, comics, games - you name it, and I've done it. Or at least read the plot synopsis on Wikipedia.
