Star Trek: 20 Essential Gifts For Trekkies

14. The Star Trek Archive

Star Trek Vault Much like the Ships of the Line book, this one has been out for a couple of years. This pack was released in 2011 and it contains basically a bundle of little collectables commemorating the entire franchise. Such things as movie posters (mind you, small movie posters), trading cards, blueprints etc. You get the idea. It isn't limited to just The Original Series itself, but also includes things from the newer era such as Borg schematics and a Deep Space Nine badge. The reason why I include this is the bargain-like nature at the moment. The pack was originally released at £35, but you can now get as new copies from a reseller on Play.com for £4.87. The next best seller on there is £12.99. So a total bargain, and the person you're buying it for doesn't need to know that you managed to get it at a total steal.

13. The Star Trek Phaser Kit

Star Trek Phaser Box Another very stocking filler-esque present. You get an original series style phaser, a book on the history of phasers and it all comes in a little box. Doesn't sound all together that exciting but it's only £5.50 and so it's a pretty good deal as often the phaser toys are much more expensive than that. But Phasers are one of those iconic away team items from the series along with the tricorder and the communicator. Sure it isn't anything new, but if you have a Star Trek fan in your life that doesn't have a phaser, then they'll love it. But most fans who have a volume of the merchandise will already have one (although as I write this, I don't have one!). Something to note is that the book is unique to the set, and doesn't come with anything else and so even if a friend has a phaser already, they won't have the book at least.

12. Star Trek: Federation: The First 150 Years

Star Trek Federation This is a mammoth of a book that intends to cover the first 150 years of the Federation as the book suggests €“ which includes details about the unseen Romulan War. Be warned though, Trekkies who love the ongoing novel series might end up pulling their hair out as some of the events chronicled in this book is different to those in the novel series. Plus you have two choices as well, basically the "vanilla" hardback edition which is just the book, or the version with the stand. The stand is a plastic holder for the same book and has a recorded message from George Takei. Normally I'd be all for the stand €“ I'm one of those people that has to have the steelbook version of things, but in this case the regular hardback is significantly cheaper. For example, on Amazon, the hardback is £13.39, while the version with the stand is £46.49.
