Star Trek: 20 Supporting Characters That Deserved More
11. Ocam Sadal
The son of the President of Betazed, Ocam, was destined to slink to the sidelines after his sister, Tarima, became entangled with Starfleet Academy bad-boy Caleb. Even when Tarima opted to join the War College for definitely-not-Caleb-related reasons, and Ocam joined the Academy and became roommates with Caleb, the focus remained on Tarima out of the pair.
Yet, despite being somewhat overshadowed by a spirited sister with epic Betazoid powers, one of the things we love about Ocam is that he's always got her back. He's supportive, empathetic and even encourages her to seize the day. We should all be so lucky to have an Ocam in our corner. And we could do worse than learning from the make-believe trophies he awards himself for all of life's dull adulting requirements.
While the spotlight naturally remains on his sister, we demand more time with Ocam. Warm, funny and somehow endearing despite his occasional awkwardness, he's a breath of fresh air whenever he joins the rest of the Academy gang. Speaking of which, his absence from Jay-Den's family bonding ritual was just plain rude.
On the plus side, however, Ocam's turn as Lappy the mascot may well be the highlight of his Academy career so far.
