Star Trek: 6 Things To Expect In An Upcoming Pike Prequel Series

3. Old Faces

Star Trek The Cage

One of the surprises of Star Trek Discovery was the re-introduction of the Talosians after so many years. Updated to fit the current aesthetic and yet still reminscent of their '60s origin, they help Spock and Burnham further their quest.

Also reintroduced is the beautiful Vina, played by Melissa George in Discovery. Likewise, her '60s style is a throwback to years gone by. This is a story that needs to be revisited again - if Pike's ultimate fate is to spend his final years with her on Talos IV, then it stands to reason there could be more of a relationship, more drama and more longing here.

However, there is another old face who has yet to appear in any live action version but one who has already received a name check on Discovery. Captain Robert April was the intended first Captain of the Enterprise and, barring an appearance in The Animated Series, has never been portrayed in canon.

He was listed by Discovery's computer as one of the most highly respected Captains in Starfleet. It is time enough for him to enter the televised universe and what better way to do that then by potentially showing a young Pike serving under him on the Enterprise itself?
