Star Trek: Alternate Reality Uniforms Ranked Worst To Best

5. Starbase Yorktown

The uniforms seen aboard Starbase Yorktown are quite different from those seen aboard serving Starships. The bright colours worn by Starfleet officers are relegated here to the shoulders, with larger rank insignia adorning the collars.

While Kirk is seen wearing a variation of this uniform, it generally doesn't enter wide use outside the Starbase. It is evocative of those jumpsuits introduced in Deep Space Nine's debut season, then adopted by Voyager for its seven-year run. Star Trek has a history of starbase-only uniforms, seen as early as The Original Series.

Though they admittedly look very comfortable, these uniforms leave a little to be desired in terms of style. Quite apart from wanting to see Kirk remain in charge of the Enterprise, it would do Chris Pine a disservice to take him out of command gold - so perhaps it was best for all concerned that he turned down Commodore Paris' promotion offer.
