Star Trek: Breaking Down The Discovery Season 3 Trailer

It's been 930 years...

Star Trek Discovery Season 3
CBS

It's been a long 17 months since Star Trek: Discovery ended its second season with Burnham and the crew slingshotted into the distant future. What is this new future? Who will take command of the Discovery? And what kind of sassy things will Jet Reno have to say about it?

We're going to have to wait a little longer to find out exactly what's gonna go down in the future of the future, but CBS has gifted us a new trailer for Season 3 as part of Star Trek's 54th birthday celebration.

Likely edited to give us as much bang with as little context as possible, there's tons of stuff here to ponder, squint at, and overanalyze until the show finally comes back on October 15.

Until that day, we've put together a list of the ten things that (spore) jumped out at us in this second trailer for Star Trek: Discovery Season 3.

After a small recap of what led our heroes into this new, uncharted timeframe, we're given a stardate: 3188.

You'll recall that Michael programmed her Red Angel suit for a 930 year jump forward in last season's finale, "Such Sweet Sorrow, Part II", in order to take the sphere data safely out of the grasp of Control and to reunite with her mother, Dr. Gabrielle Burnham, who had traveled to the year 3185.

Season 3 will apparently pick up a couple of years after Dr. Burnham landed in the future with Michael separated from the Discovery and her shipmates. Judging by the teaser trailer that was released at New York Comic Con in October 2019 (yeah), this separation will last long enough for Michael to experiment with a few hairstyles and looks and get personal with the denizens of the 32nd century.
