Star Trek Discovery: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'People Of Earth'

Both this episode and last week's episode, "Far From Home", depict Captain Pike's old ready room as a complete mess, his conference table sadly destroyed. However, Saru is clearly making the space his own now that he's taken on the full-time job of captain of the Discovery.

Toward the end of "People of Earth", Saru is seen setting up the telescope from Captain Georgiou's ready room aboard the USS Shenzhou in "The Vulcan Hello".

After her death, Georgiou left the telescope to Michael who received the item in "The Butcher's Knife Cares Not for the Lamb's Cry" but later passed it on to Saru in “Choose Your Pain”. The telescope was last seen in Saru’s quarters in “An Obol for Charon”.
