Star Trek: Dr McCoy's 10 Point Guide To Being The Best Doctor In Starfleet

8: Never Break The Hippocratic Oath!

The Hippocratic Oath, the solemn vow that all doctors must take to practice medicine ethically and honestly and promise to €œ first, do no harm.€ Here we have the ultimate example of how seriously McCoy takes that oath. Kirk, McCoy, Scotty and Uhura are stuck in the mirror universe where the Federation is an evil, all conquering empire who rule with force. It's generally not a pleasant place. The ''good'' crew devise a plan to use the Transporter to beam back to their own reality but they only have a small window to do it in. Mirror-Spock interrupts them and is injured in a fight. McCoy decides that he cant leave and has to help Mirror-Spock, even if it means that he might end up getting stuck in the parallel universe. It's awesome to see the sacrifice McCoy is willing to make when most would just leave and run. McCoy's Lesson: Being a doctor means making some tough decisions and none can be more difficult than having to decide if your life is worth trading to help another. But you never break the Hippocratic Oath! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UE-rhcFfOEA
