Star Trek: Endgame Fiction Vs. Reality

What Happens In The Episode:

Owing to her extensive experience in boldly going so much further than anyone before, it's not long after her return that Janeway is given the Admiralty.

Not much is discussed in the intervening years up to Janeway's characteristic torching of the Temporal Prime Directive. It is known that she does some work with Starfleet Intelligence and writes entire books on her history with The Borg, becoming the de-facto expert in the quadrant. She maintains close relationships with her former crew, but her time home is one marked with sorrow and regret over the lives lost, and ultimately leads her to rewrite time.

What Really Happens:

You can't keep a good Janeway down, and regardless of temporality, she earns her promotion to Admiral, even surpassing the legendary Jean-Luc Picard and commanding him to Romulus during the movie Nemesis.

Some time after this, Janeway is a key figure in the launch of the USS Protostar, a return journey to explore more of the Delta Quadrant under Captain Chakotay's command. When the Protostar goes missing, it's Janeway who leads the rescue effort.

Although yet to reappear in live action, the number of namechecks from characters in Star Trek: Picard would suggest that this isn't the last we've seen of our favourite coffee lover.
