Star Trek: Everything We Know About Section 31 (The Movie)

1. I Came, I Saw, I Slayed

"I'm not gonna confirm or deny that there's a Beyoncé cameo in this movie…," Sam Richardson said with deadpan wit to MTV's Josh Horowitz. Well, the megastar singer did allow hit record Formation to be used in the teaser trailer, and she has played a spy of sorts before! In any case, "'Cause I slay" is very much the point.

As well as (re-)joining Section 31, Georgiou will have to face the "sins of her past," stated the ‘Special Movie Event’ announcement in April 2023. For a Terran emperor, 'sin' is a euphemism! War crimes. Genocide. Being a bit mean to Betazoids. Little was beyond her Most Imperial Majesty.

"You're a tyrant who murdered her own people by the millions. The past always catches up with you," Omari Hardwick's character, Alak Sahar, reminds Georgiou in the teaser trailer. That past, we are shown from the start — introduced in the opening shots to a young Philippa, played by Miku Martineau.

Stepping through a pool of blood, it looks like the soon-to-be supreme ruler has just poisoned her entire family so as not to have any pesky distractions as she ascends the throne. Not only the past, will Georgiou keep quiet about what she saw in the far future?

Later in the teaser trailer, the older Georgiou is handed something that looks like it might be ticking. We're a bit beyond Caesar and the Ides of March, but Section 31’s hardly a safe haven. Philippa Georgiou Augustus Ioponius Centarius — her full imperial name — might want to watch out if she hopes to slay another day.
