Pure fan service this, but nonetheless satisfying. The final shot of the trailer gives us an incredible callback to The Next Generation, with Picard sat nursing a hand of two cards, opposite what is later revealed to be Data. The very final shot of the entire Next Generation sees Picard sat dealing a hand of two cards, sat opposite... you guessed it Data.

It's clearly a deliberate effort to line up the beginning of this show with the ending of the last and, from a simply visual perspective, absolutely nails it. We'll have to wait and see precisely what the content of their conversation is though.
