Star Trek: Picard - 4 Ups & 5 Downs From Et In Arcadia Ego (Part 1)

Maybe I'm just not getting it, but this is another week that found me asking what, precisely, was the point in Elnor. The initial story of him being the personification of all the people Picard had failed, as well as a living reminder to not let that happen again, seemed interesting enough, but we've seen virtually nothing of that since.

He was a bit of comic relief on Freecloud, magically just appeared to help out on the Borg cube, beheaded a few more Romulans, and now just... lives... with Seven? As a... pet?

The heartfelt sendoff he and Picard gave each other this week (literally the second time they've done it in the space of a few hours when you think about it) felt awkwardly unearned. Plus his mantra of binding himself to lost causes doesn't really work when what the XBs need right now is a team of engineers and a tractor beam, rather than a nun with a sword.
