Star Trek: Picard - 6 Ups & 2 Downs From 'Broken Pieces'

1. Patrick Stewart And Alison Pill

Picard Alison Pill

Special praise this week must go to both Picard and Agnes, who comfortably had the most compelling scene of the whole episode together. Agnes wakes from her coma to find the disappointed, wounded face of Picard in front of her. He knows who she is and what she's done, and the uncompromising Starfleet persona of old bubbles to the surface to demand answers.

Patrick Stewart has played so many facets of this role a thousand times over, but every week seems to bring a new challenge for Alison Pill as Agnes. One week she's ditzy and curious, the next she's murdering her former lover, then she's paralysed with fear of what's coming and, finally this week, she has to come to terms with what she's done AND meet the being she's spent her entire life dreaming of. It's a hell of a performance across one season.

Some of it's been hit and miss but this week she absolutely nailed it. Long may it continue.
