Star Trek: Picard - 8 Ups & 2 Downs From The Impossible Box
2. Hugh
It can't have been easy for Jonathan Del Arco to step back into a role he played literally only twice back in the early 90s, but my word does he manage it. In fact, despite his relatively sparse few minutes of screentime, it's a performance that highlights the folly in having Icheb and Bruce Maddox recast. Yes, they're all relatively small parts, but the extra impact of having the actual Hugh here is noticeable.
His inclusion is one that made perfect sense at the time it was announced, but feels like a perfect fit in the context of the story. As Picard struggles to reconcile his history with the Borg with his loss of humanity, meeting a man who had a far deeper connection with the Collective, and has managed to overcome it, is a huge moment in the show.
