Star Trek: Picard: Analyzing All The Ships From Season One
1. USS Zheng He
At the climax of "Et In Arcadia Ego, Part 2", Riker's fleet is comprised of numerous, nearly identical Federation starships, led by the USS Zheng He. This is a brand new design, but is very similar to the unused Tahoe-class concept ship designed by John Eaves for Star Trek Online back in 2006.
Following the season finale, Michael Chabon stated on his Instagram that the Zheng He and its sister ships are Curiosity-class, like the USS ibn Majid from "Broken Pieces". However, in a correspondence with the website Ex Astris Scientia, Chabon clarified that the vessels are in fact Inquiry-class starships.
Two variants of the ship appear in "Et In Arcadia Ego, Part 2", each with the same hull configuration but different warp engine shapes.
The bridge of the Zheng He herself was a redress of the bridge of the USS Discovery from Star Trek: Discovery in the time honored tradition of reused bridge sets in the Star Trek franchise.
