Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Broken Pieces'
17. Deep Space Nope
Picard and Soji beam aboard the La Sirena from Nepenthe and Rios is immediately tongue tied seeing the synth girl. We'll find out more about that later, but for now Picard needs a secure subspace link to Starfleet Command. Picard wants to call in the cavalry and orders Rios to lay in a course for Deep Space 12.
Prior to "Broken Pieces", the highest number a "Deep Space" starbase has gone has been "9". This is the first mention of Deep Space 12, but Deep Space 3, Deep Space 4, Deep Space 5, Deep Space 7, and of course Deep Space 9 have all been mentioned in the franchise before.
Auntie Raffi pulls a phaser on Soji because she's extra suspicious now that she's pretty sure Agnes is a Romulan spy. This phaser is the same style Bjazl's hired goons used in "Stardust City Rag". Raffi says Picard is basically playing this on a hunch based on "one pissant little neuron", a reference to the fractal neuronic cloning used to create Dahj and Soji mentioned in "Remembrance".
