Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Et In Arcadia Ego, Part 1'

11. Spin-Off Or We Riot

Star Trek Brent Spiner
CBS

On the trashed Artifact, one of the XBs recognizes Picard as his "Best of Both Worlds" Borgified persona, Locutus. This previously happened in TNG's "I, Borg", where Hugh mistook Picard for his former Borg self. And in "The Impossible Box", another XB identified Picard as Locutus.

Seven is dumping the bodies of a couple Romulan guards because she's a badass and Jerry Goldsmith's theme from Star Trek: Voyager plays in full.

At Picard's request, the former Borg get the long range scanners up and running and Raffi and Rios discover that there's a fleet of 218 Romulan warbirds on the way. This is the first time it's been mentioned that the Romulan ships we've seen in Star Trek: Picard are in fact warbirds. They're new designs but clearly intended to be offshoots of the famous, green, double-hulled Romulan warbird first seen in Star Trek: The Next Generation's "The Neutral Zone" and the Valdore-type warbirds from Star Trek Nemesis. More on them later.

Picard and his friends head off to Synthville, but Elnor stays behind with Seven to protect the XBs, get the Artifact's defensive systems back online, and (maybe, hopefully) set up another spin-off in this new era of Star Trek where every other episode makes us say "hey that would make a great spin-off."
