Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Et In Arcadia Ego, Part 1'

12. Gorn Identity

Star Trek Brent Spiner
CBS

Since the La Sirena's transporters are dead, Picard, Agnes, Rios, Soji, and Auntie Raffi break out the tank tops and decide to hoof it to the crashed Artifact to see if Hugh and Elnor made it.

Raffi arms herself just in case the group stumbles upon some angry reptiloids or homicidal fungi, which she assures Soji is a thing.

Numerous angry reptiloids have appeared throughout Star Trek's history, from the deadly Gorn in The Original Series episode "Arena" (and later Star Trek: Enterprise's "In A Mirror Darkly" two-parter) to the Xindi Reptilians in Star Trek: Enterprise's Xindi arc. On the other hand, homicidal fungi is a new one for Trek, but Raffi could be remembering the fungus that destroyed the food chain of the planet Tarsus IV in TOS' "The Conscience of the King".

Since Auntie Raffi's been the drunk, high voice of reason throughout the season, we shouldn't put it past the show to spring some angry fungus on us before we get off Coppelius.
