Star Trek Picard: Every Easter Egg & Hidden Reference From 'Remembrance'

9. The Romulan Supernova

Numerous references are made throughout the episode to the "Romulan supernova," an event which was first featured in J.J. Abrams' 2009 Star Trek movie.

Spock Prime (Leonard Nimoy) attempted to save the planet Romulus from being annihilated by a supernova by using a black hole to consume the supernova, but his plan failed, resulting in Romulus' destruction and Spock's ship being sucked into the black hole, transporting him to the Kelvin timeline of the new Trek films.

Quite cleverly, this episode is able to reference the single event in the Abrams Trek films which actually took place in the Trek Prime timeline, while using it to inform Picard's decision to pull away from Starfleet.
