2. It's A Tease
Aside from a Worf character refresher and the NYCC trailer, Trekkies have also received a couple of minutes of footage from the opening episode.
Not giving too much away as you might expect, it breathes life into the reunion of the cast with Picard's USS Enterprise-D combadge chirping back into life.
Receiving a long range encrypted transmission, the computer notes it requires a passcode to unlock the data. Cudos to the writers for using this as a portal into the past of the franchise as the combadge is hidden under the immediately recognisable red of Picard's command uniform last seen in service (not a dream) in 1994's Generations.
Two more observations from this scene. One is Picard wearing glasses - might he also be allergic to Retinax 5 like a certain former captain of the Enterprise? Second, sitting proudly on Jean-Luc's desk is the Kurlan naiskos. Gifted to him by Professor Galen in TNG's sixth season The Chase, it miraculously survived the Enterprise-D crash, and Picard tossing it aside as he hunted for his family photo album.
